About us:

We are Cam and G and together we make up CGgolfs. We are a golfing couple living and working in St Andrews. When not at our 9-5 jobs, we try to travel and play as much golf as we can. We are very fortunate to be able to spend a lot of time playing the courses in St Andrews, with our favourite being The Old Course!

We will be documenting a lot of our rounds of golf through YouTube videos, as well as our other content on our instagram and TikTok accounts. Some of our best St Andrews golfing memories include playing The Old Course in reverse, playing The Old Course the day after the 150th Open and playing with various friends and family who come to visit us in The Home Of Golf.

CAM

Cam makes up one half of CGgolfs. He grew up in Aberdeen, Scotland and was introduced to the game by his dad at a very young age. He began playing the short Silverburn course at Royal Aberdeen and quickly caught the golf bug. He spent all his summers as a child out at Royal Aberdeen and quickly found his initial handicap of 36 drop. He reached a single figure handicap by the time he was 13 and reached scratch by the time he was 16.

He began playing tournaments at the age of 7 in the under 10 flag competitions hosted by the Paul Lawrie foundation. These events gave you 36 shots around a par 3 layout with the goal being to get as far as you could before running out of shots. When he started, he wouldn’t get much further than the 6th hole. However, by the time he graduated from the under 12 events, he was routinely making it to the 11th hole (and taking home a few gold medals). His best golfing memory from these events was when he managed to make a hole in one with a 7 iron when he was 7 years old. This was his first of 5 hole in ones he has had so far.

His other 4 hole in ones came in 2016, 2020, 2021 and 2024. The one in 2016 was on the par 4 10th at Royal Aberdeen where he hit his driver on the 270 yard hole. The other 3 have all been in St Andrews on the Castle and Balgove courses. His ultimate goal is to get an ace on The Old Course. For reference, Georgina like to tell everyone that CGgolfs have 5 hole in ones in total but G has unfortunately never made one.

Cam played in the junior section at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club and managed to win the Junior Club Championship in his final 3 years as a Junior. He was also very active in the North East District golf section and managed to win the district strokeplay and matchplay championships. Cam also represented Scotland as a junior and this remains one of his proudest achievements.

When Cam was 17 years old, he moved to St Andrews to pursue a degree in Geology at University. He played on the golf team for 4 years and participated in many of the leading national and international student events. While studying for his degree, he also managed to play over 200 rounds on The Old Course and ticked off many bucket list courses from around the world. He was the captain of the British Universities teams in his final year and led the team to success in the Scottish Cup.

After University, Cam moved to Edinburgh to work for an engineering company. After 9 months and very little golf, he decided to up sticks and move back to St Andrews to pursue a different career path and ensure his life contained a lot more golf. He quickly found a job with a bespoke golf travel company selling golf trips to Scotland and Ireland. Through this job, he gets to meet a variety of people and also gets to travel to many interesting places.

In 2024, Cam got back in to tournament golf and has so far achieved some success. He reached the finals of The New Club Championship losing narrowly on The Old Course. His goal is to continue to work hard at his game each day and to play in many of the leading amateur events in the coming years. Later in 2024, he will be teeing it up in many of the Scottish order of merit 72 hole strokeplay events.

GEORGINA

Georgina makes up the other half of CGgolfs. She grew up in Yorkshire, England and took to golf from a young age as her family were also involved in golf. She grew up playing at Flamborough Head Golf Club at the weekends with her older brother, mum and grandparents.

Georgina got her first handicap when she was 8 years old. The 74 handicap that her mum gave her was double the par of Flamborough. This quickly reduced as she began to play more and more. The turning point in Georgina’s golf game came in the shape of a new hybrid she got from Argos when she was 9. She was able to start hitting the ball further with this and it gave her the confidence to want to progress in the game. Her progression eventually led to her playing for the Yorkshire girls team in multiple matches.

She has an incredibly strong association with Flamborough Head Golf Club due to her family connection and, to this day, she still represents the club in the events she plays. Georgina holds the official ladies course record at Flamborough with a round of -5. However, in an unofficial round with Cam on her birthday, she shot -6, which included a bogey on the 17th.

Georgina moved to St Andrews in 2017 to pursue a degree in Astrophysics. She was convinced to go there after visiting at an open day that she attended with her mum on her 18th birthday. It is also ranked No.1 for Physics in the UK, meaning that it was an attractive proposition when combined with the golf.

She found some early success on the golf team when she won The Alexander Quinn Invitational at Royal St George’s and Prince’s in her 1st year. Her final round included 2 eagles on the notoriously difficult course. However, after this win, she found tournament golf incredibly difficult and lost a lot of the enjoyment she used to have for golf. As her studies ramped up in 3rd and 4th year, Georgina struggled to maintain both golf and her academics. Ultimately deciding that getting her degree was more important, golf took a back seat for almost 2 years.

During COVID, Georgina was convinced to get back out on the golf course and never looked back. She fell back in love with the game and was the Women’s Captain of The University of St Andrews Golf Club in her final year. This position led to her having a leading role in the organisation of student volunteers during The 150th Open Championship.

After graduating in 2022, she was offered a job with a golf media agency where she works with golf brands, reviews golf clubs and visits the odd tractor factory from time to time. If your club uses the howdidido software you have likely seen Georgina’s face on your screen.

Georgina’s primary goal is to get back enjoying tournament golf. With Cam on the bag, she has had some recent success and will look to build on that in the coming years. She also wants to play more golf with her mum, who was pivotal in getting her into the game in the first place.
